She Married Herself – And Invited 100 Guests

When Kshama Bindu from Gujarat announced she was getting married, it didn’t raise many eyebrows — until she revealed that the groom... didn’t exist.

No, it wasn’t a cancelled wedding. She wasn’t ghosted.

She was marrying herself — in what’s called sologamy.

And she wasn't joking.

There was a full ceremony planned. Mehendi. Haldi. Vows. Even a mandap. Guests were invited. A priest was arranged. Except instead of “dulha mil gaya,” the bride had already found the one: herself.

Kshama’s decision sparked a national debate overnight. News channels picked it up. Headlines screamed,

“Woman to Marry Herself in India’s First Sologamy Ceremony.”

Some called it brave. Some called it bizarre. Others thought it was a PR stunt.

But Kshama had her reasons. She told reporters:

“I want to show that women matter. That self-love is valid. That I don’t need a partner to be complete.”

In a country where weddings are a grand social affair (and family pressure is a constant background noise), her move was a straight-up rebellion.

And she didn’t skip the traditions either. She wore a red lehenga, applied mehendi, walked around the fire (feras), and even put sindoor on her own forehead.

Of course, not everyone was thrilled. The temple where she initially planned the wedding backed out due to "controversy." So she held a private ceremony at home instead.

The internet exploded. Memes were flying. WhatsApp groups were buzzing. People asked:

  • Is this legal?
  • Can she now apply for a divorce from herself if she gets bored?
  • Will there be a honeymoon selfie with a mirror?

Behind the trolling, though, was a deeper message.

She wanted to normalize the idea that being single is a choice, not a failure — especially for women in India, who often get pressured into marriage like it's a milestone on a checklist.

Kshama didn’t ask for approval. She booked a makeup artist, posed for the photos, smiled through the noise, and declared,

“At least I know I’m marrying someone I trust.”

In a world where people marry for money, passports, clout, and even to spite an ex — marrying yourself might just be the most honest wedding of all.
